Team celebration after finding our buddy Tony. Earlier this week, the K Fi Running Club met for a run at Mt. Sanitas in Boulder. It was Tony’s first time at Sanitas so we gave him some general directions: “head up the trail for a while until you reach the top – then go down the other side.” All of us finished running at 5 pm and met at the agreed upon place…except for Tony. At 5:30, we started to get worried and hiked up the trail to search for our missing colleague. But there was no sign of him anywhere. At 6 pm we began to get really worried. We determined that a number of different things may have happened. The best case scenario was that Tony met a nice young lady and they were holding hands and spending some time together. The worst case was that he was eaten by a mountain lion. There were also many options in between, such as a sprained ankle, wrong turn on the trail, etc. We noticed at the trailhead there were a few lost and found signs, such as: “lost wedding ring – $250 reward if you find it and call this number…” We decided that one thing we could do while waiting for Tony was post a sign in case he was found:
As soon as we posted our sign, out of the woods came Tony with a big smile on his face. Boy were we happy to see him! He had taken a wrong turn, climbed a tree to try to look for the trail, gotten lost, but finally found his way back. We all agreed it was our most exciting running club adventure yet.
